Learning Support Assistant – SEN School Setting

An exceptional specialist school in Southampton is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join their established team.

The school supports pupils aged 5-16 with a range of additional needs including Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties, Speech and Language needs and SEMH requirements. Staff are passionate about providing personalised learning pathways and creating a safe, supportive environment where every child can flourish.

This role would suit experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Care Workers, Psychology Graduates or anyone with a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.

Your Role:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting with communication and sensory activities
  • Supporting social and emotional development
  • Working alongside teachers and therapists
  • Promoting independence and positive outcomes
  • Helping create an engaging learning environment

What You’ll Need:

  • SEND experience preferred but not essential
  • Caring and patient nature
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Commitment to supporting vulnerable children
