Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (SEMH School)
Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Salary: £102.68 per day
Hours: Full-time | Monday – Friday | 8:30am – 4:30pm (5pm finish on Thursdays)
Contract: Temp to Perm (Permanent after 12 working weeks)
Start Date: September 2025
Interviews: To be held after half-term


Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join a beautiful SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Horsham, supporting children and young people aged 6–18 years.

About the Role:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs in both one-to-one and small group settings

  • Helping pupils to build confidence, develop positive relationships, and increase their self-esteem

  • Contributing to a calm, structured environment that fosters emotional and academic development

  • Working closely with teaching staff to implement positive behaviour management strategies

  • Assisting with the delivery of engaging, inclusive learning tailored to individual needs


Candidate Qualities:

  • Patience and Resilience: A calm and composed individual who can remain patient in challenging situations and is committed to fostering a positive learning environment.

  • Energetic and Active: The role requires someone who is physically active, as it involves engaging with students in activities both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Experience with SEMH and SEN: Preferably, candidates will have prior experience supporting children with SEMH needs or other special educational needs in a school or care setting.

  • Team Player: Ability to work well as part of a team, taking direction from teachers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
