SEMH Teacher – Horley

Location: Horley, Surrey

Start Date: ASAP (we will wait for the right candidate)

Salary: Paid to scale for long-term placements; £120–£140 per day for short-term or day-to-day cover. Temp to perm options.

We’re recruiting a passionate and experienced SEMH Teacher to join our provision in Horley. While this is a secondary SEMH role, we warmly welcome applications from primary-trained teachers who bring the right mindset and classroom management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, deliver and adapt high-quality lessons for pupils with SEMH needs, focusing on engagement and progress.

• Create a calm, structured classroom environment and employ positive behaviour management strategies.

• Work closely with TAs, SENCO and external professionals to implement personalised learning plans.

• Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings.

• Support transition planning and build strong relationships with families.


Skills & Experience / What We’re Looking For:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

• Experience teaching pupils with SEMH, or demonstrable experience managing challenging behaviour.

• Strong planning and assessment skills; ability to differentiate learning.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate pupils.

• Desirable: knowledge of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.
