SEND Teaching Assistant Wanted – Immediate Start

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding SEND role in Portsmouth?

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team immediately. The school has a strong reputation for providing outstanding support to children with additional needs and has invested heavily in creating a nurturing, child-centred environment where every pupil can thrive.

Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers and wider pastoral team, you will support pupils with a range of special educational needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, communication needs and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

Responsibilities:

• Providing 1:1 and small group SEND support
• Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom
• Assisting with behaviour management strategies
• Helping implement EHCP targets
• Promoting positive learning experiences and independence
• Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or Support Worker
• Passion for supporting children with additional needs
• Patient, resilient and caring approach
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
