A highly regarded SEND school in Basingstoke is seeking a Speech & Language Support Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

The school supports pupils aged 5-16 with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autism and associated learning difficulties. Staff work closely with onsite Speech and Language Therapists to create individual learning pathways that build confidence, communication and independence.

The school benefits from purpose-built intervention rooms, sensory facilities and a collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to helping pupils overcome communication barriers.

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with communication and interaction needs
  • Deliver targeted interventions under guidance from teaching staff
  • Encourage confidence in communication and social situations
  • Assist with small group and individual learning activities
  • Work alongside therapists and educational professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Strong communication skills
  • Patient, supportive and adaptable nature
  • Interest in SEND education and communication development
