  Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have experience supporting individuals with high needs or transferable skills from a care, health, or community background? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Support Assistant to join our committed team at a specialist SEND school. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning and develop life skills.

As a SEND Support Assistant, you will:

  • Work under the guidance of teaching staff and therapists to support pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, speech and language needs, SEMH, physical disabilities, and complex learning difficulties.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning and care plans.

  • Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation, personal care, and engagement in learning activities.

  • Help create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.

  • Be an essential part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on the wellbeing and progress of each pupil.

  • We Welcome Applicants With:

    Experience in:

    • SEND support or mainstream classroom assistant roles

    • Youth work, social care, early years, or mental health support

    • Residential care, nursing, or community outreach work

    • Supporting children or adults with high needs or disabilities

    Transferable Job Titles May Include:

    • Teaching Assistant (TA)

    • Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

    • Care Assistant / Support Worker

    • Youth Support Worker

    • Behaviour Mentor

    • Nursery Nurse / Early Years Practitioner

    • Occupational Therapy Assistant

    • Classroom Assistant

      Essential Skills & Qualities

      • Empathy, patience, and resilience

      • Strong communication and teamwork skills

      • Ability to follow instructions and implement strategies

      • Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality

      • Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of each pupil

      Desirable but not essential:

      • Experience in a SEND or education setting

      • Knowledge of Makaton, PECs, or other communication aids

      • Training in Team Teach, Moving & Handling, or personal care support
