Support Mentor – Alternative Provision (Secondary School)
£90–£100 per day | Weekly Pay | Full-Time, Part-Time & Flexible Opportunities

Bexhill and surrounding areas

Looking for a role where your personality, attitude and life experience matter just as much as your CV?

We are recruiting Support Mentors to work within a secondary Alternative Provision school—a specialist setting that supports students who may have struggled in mainstream education. This could be due to behavioural challenges, SEMH needs, or barriers to learning. These schools provide smaller classes, more personalised support, and a strong focus on relationships, wellbeing and re-engagement in education.

This is not your typical classroom role—it’s about building trust, being a positive role model, and helping young people get back on track.

About the Role

  • Work closely with students on a 1:1 and small group basis

  • Build strong, positive relationships to support engagement

  • Act as a mentor and role model for young people

  • Support students both in and out of the classroom

  • Help manage behaviour in a calm, consistent and supportive way

  • Encourage confidence, resilience and emotional regulation

  • Support re-engagement with learning and school routines

No School Experience? No Problem.

You do not need to have worked in education to be successful in this role.

If you’ve worked in roles where you’ve supported, guided or communicated with people—you likely already have the skills we’re looking for. We value transferable skills, personality and attitude just as much as experience.

Ideal Backgrounds (but not essential)

  • Youth work or mentoring

  • Sports coaching or team leadership

  • Care or support work

  • Security or community roles

  • Hospitality or customer-facing roles

  • Military or disciplined service backgrounds

  • Personal experience supporting young people or family members

Key Skills & Qualities

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Resilient, calm and patient under pressure

  • Positive, approachable and consistent attitude

  • Ability to set boundaries while remaining supportive

  • Good sense of humour and the ability to connect with young people

  • Adaptable and willing to learn

  • Passion for making a difference
