Are you currently studying at university and looking for flexible work that fits around your timetable?
Perhaps you’re studying Psychology, Education, Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling, Sports, Criminology or another subject with transferable skills and you’re interested in gaining valuable experience working with children and young people.
We are looking for Support Mentors to work across primary and secondary SEND, SEMH and alternative provision settings.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting children and young people who may need additional support with their learning, behaviour, emotional regulation, confidence and engagement.
The Role
As a Support Mentor, you may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. Your role could include:
- Providing encouragement and emotional support to children and young people
- Helping pupils manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies
- Supporting pupils with their learning and engagement
- Building positive and trusting relationships
- Encouraging positive behaviour and participation
- Supporting pupils who may have SEND, SEMH or additional needs
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
- Working alongside teachers and support staff
- Creating a calm, safe and positive environment
We Would Love to Hear From You If You:
- Are currently studying at university or have recently graduated
- Are studying Psychology, Education, Social Work, Youth Work, Counselling or a similar subject
- Have experience working with children or young people, either professionally or voluntarily
- Have transferable experience from coaching, mentoring, youth work, childcare, care work or community settings
- Are patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships
- Are reliable and keen to make a genuine difference
- Are looking for flexible work that fits around your studies or other commitments
Previous SEND or SEMH experience is beneficial but not essential – personality, reliability and a genuine interest in supporting young people are equally important.
