This is an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Teacher of Maths to join a highly supportive and well-structured all-through school while working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will be part of a collaborative Maths department where teamwork is central. Responsibilities are carefully scaffolded so you can gradually build independence at a manageable and supportive pace.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging Maths lessons across a range of abilities
  • Work alongside experienced teachers to deliver high-quality classroom instruction
  • Assist in preparing learning materials, resources, and classroom activities
  • Support pupils individually and in small groups to reinforce learning and close gaps
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, focused, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Observe experienced practitioners and take part in structured feedback and coaching sessions
  • Gradually take on increased teaching responsibility as part of your training pathway towards QTS
  • Support assessment, marking, and tracking of pupil progress under guidance
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and whole-school CPD

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in Maths or a closely related subject and be working towards QTS
  • Show genuine enthusiasm for Maths and a strong desire to develop as a teacher
  • Demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to learn from feedback
  • Be committed to supporting pupils of all abilities to achieve their potential
  • Communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a supportive, professional team
  • Show reliability, organisation, and a positive attitude towards training and development
  • Be reflective, open to coaching, and eager to continuously improve classroom practice
