Guildford, Surrey

Are you passionate about helping young people re-engage with education, build confidence and overcome barriers to learning?

Pink Tile Education is recruiting Learning Mentors to join a specialist SEMH school in Guildford. This role is ideal for someone who can build strong relationships with young people and use these relationships to encourage them to engage with learning and school life.

The role is less about traditional classroom teaching and more about engagement, mentoring and emotional support. You’ll work closely with pupils who may have struggled to engage with education, helping them develop the confidence and motivation to participate.

The Role

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Encourage pupils to engage with learning and school activities.
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
  • Help pupils overcome barriers to education and develop confidence.
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Encourage independence and participation in school life.
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support individual pupils.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
  • Passionate about engaging young people who may be reluctant to learn.
  • Calm, patient and resilient.
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour.
  • A strong communicator who can build genuine relationships.
  • Positive, proactive and able to think creatively about how to engage pupils.
  • A full UK driving licence holder with access to a vehicle, due to the school’s remote location.

Experience in education, youth work, residential care, support work, coaching or similar settings would be highly desirable.

Why This Role?

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people rather than simply teaching them. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils who may have disengaged from education to rebuild their confidence, develop positive relationships and rediscover their motivation to learn.
