Job Title: Teaching Assistant – 1:1
Location: Portslade, Brighton, East Sussex
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time Only
Hours: 08:45 AM – 15:20 PM, Monday to Friday

We are excited to recruit an outstanding Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded primary school in East Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a dedicated team working in a fully inclusive educational environment, supporting children with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and a variety of individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a student with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering high-quality education, ensuring the student reaches their full potential.
  • Lead individual interventions that support the child’s learning, development, and well-being.
  • Foster a positive, supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages active engagement from students.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to create a cohesive, team-oriented environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to continually enhance skills and effectiveness.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working with children in a school setting, preferably within Key Stage 2.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs and managing challenging behaviors.
  • High aspirations for both the student’s success and personal professional growth.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with a flexible and proactive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to supporting the overall classroom.
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
