Job Title: Teaching Assistant – 1:1

Location: Portslade, Brighton, East Sussex
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time Only
Hours: 08:45 AM – 15:20 PM, Monday to Friday

We are excited to recruit an outstanding Teaching Assistant to join a well-regarded primary school in East Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a dedicated team working in a fully inclusive educational environment, supporting children with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and a variety of individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored 1:1 support to a student with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Assist the class teacher in delivering high-quality education, ensuring the student reaches their full potential.
Lead individual interventions that support the child’s learning, development, and well-being.
Foster a positive, supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages active engagement from students.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues to create a cohesive, team-oriented environment.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to continually enhance skills and effectiveness.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Experience working with children in a school setting, preferably within Key Stage 2.
A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
Experience working with children with SEMH needs and managing challenging behaviors.
High aspirations for both the student’s success and personal professional growth.
Strong teamwork skills, with a flexible and proactive ‘can-do’ attitude.
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to supporting the overall classroom.
A DBS check registered on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
