Teaching Assistant – Specialist School

Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm
Pay: £106.87 per day
Contract: Temp to Perm
Start Date: September 2026

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Horsham, supporting young people with additional needs in a welcoming and well-resourced environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to develop their confidence, communication, independence and learning skills.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and pupils to provide individualised support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning and development

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required

  • Helping pupils engage with classroom activities

  • Supporting communication, social development and independence

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils

  • Supporting pupils with additional needs and adapting your approach to suit individual needs

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff

  • Helping to create a positive, calm and inclusive learning environment

  • Supporting pupils’ wellbeing and emotional regulation

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, patient and approachable

  • Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs

  • Able to build strong and positive relationships with pupils

  • Confident working as part of a wider team

  • Adaptable and willing to learn

  • Calm and consistent in their approach

  • Previous experience within a school, SEND setting, care or support environment is desirable
