Full-time Teaching Assistant
Specializing in SEND and Complex Needs Intensive Support
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Full-time Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic educational team. This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those requiring complex needs intensive support. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience of our students and contributing to their overall development and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Support:
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and delivering lessons
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Prepare and organize learning materials and resources
- Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- SEND Support:
- Work closely with students who have special educational needs and disabilities
- Adapt teaching materials and approaches to meet individual needs
- Collaborate with SEND coordinators and specialists to implement effective strategies
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular updates to the teaching team
- Assist in the development and review of IEPs
- Complex Needs Intensive Support:
- Provide dedicated support to students with complex learning, emotional, or behavioral needs
- Implement specialized interventions and support strategies
- Assist with personal care and medical needs when required (with appropriate training)
- Manage challenging behaviors using positive behavior support techniques
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions about student support
- Assist in the preparation of reports for parents, carers, and external agencies
- Support the organization of classroom activities and school events
- Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
- Keep up-to-date with best practices in SEND and complex needs support
- Contribute to the school’s continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- Experience working with children with SEND and complex needs
- Strong understanding of child development and learning processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
