An inclusive and forward-thinking secondary school based in Hove is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join their team as a full-time, permanent Teaching Assistant. This varied and rewarding role includes elements of behaviour and wellbeing support, working closely with students who may need additional guidance in and outside the classroom.
The Role:
This is more than a traditional Teaching Assistant post. In addition to supporting teaching and learning across the school, the successful candidate will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour and supporting students referred to the school’s internal Reflection provision.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond promptly to staff requests to collect students from lessons as required.
Supervise and support students in the Reflection room, ensuring they remain engaged with their learning and follow the school’s behaviour expectations.
Provide classroom-based or out-of-class support under the direction of teaching and senior staff.
Promote a calm and respectful environment that encourages positive choices and supports wellbeing.
Assist students with a wide range of needs, including special educational needs (SEN).
Contribute to the wider pastoral care of students across the school community.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Calm, adaptable, and empathetic, with a genuine interest in supporting young people.
Able to build trust while maintaining firm and consistent boundaries.
Enjoys working collaboratively with staff and students in a dynamic environment.
Values inclusion and understands the importance of offering second chances.
Preferred Background (Not Essential):
Experience in education, support work, psychology, health or social care settings.
Behaviour management skills or experience supporting young people with additional needs.
