SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs

A specialist SEN school in Cranleigh is looking for a caring, patient and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA / SEND TA) to support individuals with very complex special educational needs and disabilities.
This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, SEND TA, Learning Support Assistant or Support Worker who is passionate about supporting individuals with complex needs and helping them develop their confidence, independence and engagement.
About the Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualised support to students with a range of complex needs and disabilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with complex SEN and disabilities
- Supporting students with their learning, development and daily school activities
- Helping students develop communication, confidence and independence
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Following individual education and support plans
- Adapting your approach to meet individual needs
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals
- Helping create a safe, calm and inclusive specialist school environment
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience supporting individuals with complex SEN and disabilities is essential
- Experience within a specialist school, SEND setting, care setting or similar is beneficial
- A calm, patient and compassionate approach
- Resilience and consistency when supporting complex needs
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work as part of a wider SEN support team
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Support Worker, Disability Support Worker, Care Assistant or Education Support Worker would be beneficial.

- Probation: 12 weeks
- Monday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
- Tuesday – Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm
- Friday: 8:30am – 3:45pm
