Teaching Assistant – Hassocks, West Sussex (Autism/SEND Experience Essential)

We are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school just outside of Hassocks, West Sussex. This long-term position involves supporting children and young people with autism and complex learning needs in a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students access learning, regulate emotionally, and develop confidence both academically and socially. You’ll work closely with teachers and support staff, providing one-to-one and small group support, adapting learning approaches, and helping create a calm, engaging classroom environment where every pupil is valued.

• Experience supporting children or young people with Autism or SEND needs (or willingness to learn)
• A patient, empathetic and child-centred approach
• Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills
• Confidence supporting emotional regulation and individual learning needs
• A proactive, resilient and compassionate attitude
