Teaching Assistant (SEND)

£16,000 to £22,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Teaching Assistant – Start Jan 3rd 2023 – Full-time – Crawley, West Sussex, UK.

A special educational needs school in the Crawley area are looking for a Teaching Assistant to become part of their fantastic team starting in January 2023. The school has a highly effective senior leadership team and can demonstrate outstanding teaching and learning, as well as resilient and hardworking class assist in. The main SEN that the young people have is ASD & some moderate and severe learning difficulties. There is not expected to be any aggression/violence but with any SEN setting, it is a risk.

All staff have opportunities for professional development and everyone’s contributions are valued. You must be a person of integrity, who is highly professional, positive and respectful of others.

The school are looking for a candidate that has a background of working with children (in school, volunteering, general life experience, clubs, etc.) and appreciate the dedication needed to gain Teaching Assistant studies certificates. However, what they are specifically looking for is a TA (or carer, youth worker e.g.) with a natural skill of working with children, a proactive and reactive team player that has the children’s learning at the forefront of their practice.

Are caring and understanding of children’s needs
Have high expectations of children’s behaviour and attainment
Are very well organised & efficient
Are open to advice, feedback and guidance from colleagues
Are able to work as part of a team
(Desired) Have experience of directly working/being with children with SEN (such as ASD (autism), ADHD, PMLD)

Minimum Requirements:
A Child Enhanced DBS placed on the Update Service, or happy to obtain one during the compliance stages.
A passion for working with young people in SEN
Able to build & maintain relationships with young people
Able to encourage & inspire
