Behaviour and Wellbeing Mentor – £29,250 per annum
Billingshurst, West Sussex | Permanent | Term Time

Are you experienced in supporting children and young people with social, emotional or behavioural needs – and ready to make a genuine impact every day?

We are seeking a compassionate, confident professional to join a specialist education setting, supporting pupils who need help to re-regulate and return to learning. This is not a classroom-based role; it is about connection, calm and consistency. You will be the person students turn to when they are finding things difficult, guiding them through moments of crisis and helping them feel safe and ready to re-engage.

The Role
As a Behaviour and Wellbeing Mentor, you will work with students who are struggling to cope in class. Through positive relationships and tailored interventions, you will help them manage their emotions and regain focus. This might include:

  • Taking a walk or talking things through

  • Playing a sport or game to release energy

  • Providing space, time and empathy

  • Using therapeutic or restorative approaches to support reflection and resilience

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with children or young people displaying challenging behaviour, SEMH or additional needs

  • Strong understanding of emotional regulation, de-escalation and therapeutic practice

  • The ability to remain calm, compassionate and consistent under pressure

  • A genuine belief that every child deserves patience, understanding and a fresh start

What’s on Offer

  • £29,250 per annum

  • Supportive, specialist environment with a focus on wellbeing and professional growth

  • Ongoing training and development opportunities

  • The opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people

If you have the experience, empathy and resilience to support children in finding calm and confidence, we would love to hear from you.
